A photoredox Ir-catalyzed homocoupling reaction of benzylsulfones was developed, and the research results was published in Synlett. This method can construct a variety of diarylethanes in good yields. Combined with a-functionalization, it can be applied to the synthesis of derivatives incorporating deuterium and fluorine, which were difficult to synthesize.
